Last week's highlights

The CPI increased by 0.24% MOM, bringing the headline inflation rate to 2.7%. The increase was slightly lower than we expected.

The IMF released a staff concluding statement after an Article IV Consultation visit.

The CBI released its quarterly Economic Indicators publications.

The week ahead

We expect the MPC to hold policy rates unchanged on Wednesday but assign a 30% probability of a 0.25 bp rise in policy rates.

In real terms, the economy grew by 1.7% YOY in Q1. Domestic demand decreased by 2.8%, exports increased by 2.6% and imports decreased by 8.1.
