Last week's highlights

The króna depreciated by 6.4% last year.

Statistics Iceland estimate that the surplus of trade in goods and services was ISK 102.5 bn in the first 10 months of 2018.

The housing price index for the capital region increased by 0.1% between months in December, bringing the 12 month change to 5.9%.

The average number of employees (wage earners) during the 12-month period November 2017 – October 2018 increased by 3.3% compared to the previous 12-month period.

Registered unemployment was 2.7% in December, an increase of 0.5 percentage points compared to December 2017.

The week ahead

On Wednesday, Statistics Iceland will release the monthly wage index for December.

On Thursday, Statistics Iceland will release the results of its monthly labour force survey for December.

Landsbankinn issues senior unsecured bonds for NOK 1,000m and SEK 500m

On the back of solid financial results for 2018, Landsbankinn hf. has today concluded the sale of senior unsecured floating rate bonds with a maturity of three years in NOK 1,000m and SEK 500m.

Financial results of Landsbankinn for 2018

Landsbankinn's after-tax profit in 2018 was ISK 19.3 bn. Return on equity (ROE) was 8.2% in 2018, the same as in 2017. The cost-income ratio decreased between years and was 45.5% in 2018.

Icelandic Economic Weekly: Monday 18 February 2019

Arion Bank published financial results for 2018. Íslandsbanki published financial results for 2018 as well as an Annual Report and Pillar 3 Report. The Government debt Management Agency published its monthly Market Information report. Landsbankinn issued bonds in NOK and SEK.
