The MPC held policy rates unchanged on Wednesday. This was in line with our expectations.

Statistics Iceland released final data on R&D expenditures in 2017.

S&P revised Landsvirkjun’s rating outlook from stable to positive.

The Icelandic population grew by 2.4% last year.

The week ahead

On Wednesday, Statistics Iceland will release CPI numbers for February. We expect a 0.5% increase between months and the headline inflation to be 2.9% y/y.

On Friday, the CBI will release its quarterly Economic Indicators.

The Icelandic Tourist Board published its monthly tourism in figures report. Íslandsbanki issued a SEK-denominated bond.

Macro note: 1.7% GDP growth in Q1

In real terms, the economy grew by 1.7% YOY in Q1. Domestic demand decreased by 2.8%, exports increased by 2.6% and imports decreased by 8.1.
