Landsbankinn lowers interest rates

Landsbankinn has lowered corporate and retail rates and a new interest rate tariff enters into effect at the beginning of the banking day 23 March.

Variable interest rates on housing loans decrease by 0.40 percentage points (pp). After the change, variable rates on non-indexed housing loans will be 4.10% and variable rates on indexed housing loans will be 2.40%.

Non-indexed and indexed prime rates on housing loans decrease by 0.30 pp.

Overdraft interest rates decrease by 0.30-0.50 pp and variable rates on vehicle and equipment loans decrease by 0.30 pp.

Fixed rates for non-indexed 36 and 60-month housing loans and fixed inflation-indexed 60-month housing loans do not change.

Deposit interest rates on general current accounts remain unchanged with other common interest rates on deposits remaining unchanged or decreasing by 0.10-0.50 pp.

Further details will be forthcoming in Landsbankinn's new interest rate table, which takes effect on 23 March 2020.

Financial results of Landsbankinn in H1 of 2020

Landsbankinn's after-tax performance was negative by ISK 3.3 billion during the first half of 2020, compared with a profit of ISK 11.1 billion during the same period in 2019. Loan impairment amounted to ISK 13.4 billion during the period, equal to about 1.1% of the bank‘s loan portfolio, compared with an impairment of ISK 2.4 billion in the same period last year.
